New Nursing students
Welcome to Nursing at the University of Exeter.
During Welcome Week you will have many opportunities to meet your fellow students and some of the teaching staff on your programmes too. As well as the fun stuff offered by the Students' Guild (such as taster sessions for various societies and sports clubs for example) you will also be attending timetabled welcome/induction sessions for your programme, which will inform you about what to expect as a student here at Exeter.
Please ensure you check back here frequently for updates.
If you have any questions about your induction or starting your studies, then the Info points are the place to go for any questions you may have about your life as an Exeter student. Ours is Info at St Luke's; you can contact them on Tel: +44 (0)1392 724837 or Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
We look forward to welcoming you!
Please purchase a pair of flat black shoes with non-slip soft soles. These MUST cover your total foot (heel, toes and the top surface of your foot). These shoes must be very comfortable and made of a waterproof material, such as leather. You will be spending a lot of time on your feet and you should look after them, invest in a good pair of shoes. If you buy cheap shoes, you will end up with sore feet and have to replace them frequently. Nurse shoes are not fashionable and are designed to reduce risk of injury, including spills, dropped objects or contamination. Soft soles are required to reduce noise in patient and surrounding areas.
Please purchase a fob watch - these can be purchased very cheaply from online suppliers. The silicon ones, come in a range of colours and are ideal as they can be removed and cleaned to reduce risk of infection.
Please purchase a stethoscope - these can be purchased very cheaply from online suppliers. Please purchase a basic dual head model.
